Principal’s Report

Expenditures:  The items approved for spending at the October meeting have been ordered.  Our school is targeted to go wireless by The Board.  If we bring in rotors, the Board will pay a significant portion of this cost.  If we do go wireless, there will be a lab for the Junior Division upstairs.  Teacher use of laptops is a possibility.

Report Cards:  Reports go home next week and interviews are Nov. 29th and 30th (babysitting will be provided).  Staff is very appreciative of the dinner provided to them on that evening.

Committee Reports

Fundraising

Vicki reported that over $19,000.00 was raised by the Dance-a-thon.  The ice cream parties have been completed and the pizza parties will be done on Nov. 23rd.

Communications

It was decided that the Chair of each committee (Fundraising, Communications, Hospitality and School Community Enrichment) will be responsible for sending information to Laura to report on the school website.  Each committee has its own page for information.  Vicki will speak to Lisa regarding sending Fundraising Committee information to Laura.

Hospitality

Dinner will be provided to staff on November 29th (interview night) in the library from 4-4:45 p.m.  Council members are welcome to attend.

Regency Kids Care

The next event is Valentines for Seniors and plans will be made in January.

Enrichment

The Winter Arts Programs will run through the winter and spring.  There will be a Grade 5 Book Club and Gr. 2, 5 and 6 Math Clubs.  The programs are run by parent volunteers.

Holiday Heritage

Kim reported that this event will take place during the school Holiday Concert on Dec. 13th.  She said that approximately six stations will be set up in the gym and the cost has increased from last year, as donations from volunteers are not predictable.  Most classes are involved in helping with this event.  Mike made a motion to give the Holiday Heritage Committee $650.00 to run this event.  Shelley seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously.  Note:  The budget has increased by $250.00 from last year.  One person from this committee is responsible for giving the receipts to Norma and Kim will speak to Norma about putting information about this event in the December newsletter.

Volunteer

This committee will be working on the Welcome Package.  Kim will bring the package to the next meeting and Council will discuss any additions that could be made.

Sunshine

Movie Night will be held on December 7th and Santa Claus 2 will be shown.  Drinks and chips will be sold at cost.

Mail Bag

The crossing guard at the intersection of Murray and Seaton will be removed at the lunch hour as of January.  Mike distributed the latest issue of Bridges (YRDSB School Council Newsletter).  The YRDSB Aboriginal Self-Identification Process pamphlet will be available in the School Council mailbox if you are interested in seeing it.

Other

The “Y” in the Regency sign on the outside of the school has been fixed.  The bullying survey was completed and will be presented at the next meeting.  If you are interested in attending the Board meeting on Nov. 28th to observe, please speak to John.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 8:23 p.m.

The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 19th at 7:00 p.m. in the library.
